Fears, frailties, beauties, knots and almost nothing
Installation
2018
Fears, frailties, beauties, knots and almost nothing is an installation that consists of various materials, mainly – but not exclusively – things I found from home (e.g laminate parquet, thread, yarn, tape, daub etc) and six inkjet photographs. It is accompanied by a semi-fictional, semi-academical text titled Fear of Being Weak.
In the core of the project are weaknesses and tendernesses and tensions. Also, not-tensions or lightnesses or frailties or fragilities. And knots and bits and pieces and translucencies.
I do what I am strong enough for, mostly. That is both a method and a relevant part of the content. Parts of the installation are almost invisible, you might notice them or you might not. You also might stumble upon them, break them. It will probably make you a bit cautious. Aware of the fragile. I tend to focus on the seemingly irrelevant parts of everyday. I think a lot about beauty. I have a fear of being weak, I think. I fear failure, I work with the possibility of it. I try to communicate that possibility, gently. I would like to offer hunches. It might be slow. I am intrigued by working on the edge of almost too beautiful. I am fascinated by almost-nothing.
